Every note is still a file you can export, but it doesn't have to be plain Markdown.
Note types
When you create a note, pick a type: Markdown, plain text, checklist, journal, meeting, outline, screenplay, recipe, letter, table, board, form or code. Each type opens with a layout and editor suited to it, and several come with ready-made templates. You can change a note's type later.
Canvas, views and the graph
- A canvas lays notes, text and links out on a board you can arrange freely.
- A base shows notes as a table or a board, filtered and sorted by their properties, much like a small database.
- The graph draws how your notes link together, for the whole workspace or around one note.
- Bookmarks keep the notes you use most one click away.
All of this runs on your device, on notes only you can decrypt.
Writing tools
Manuscript mode organises a long piece into scenes you can reorder, then compiles it to EPUB or DOCX. Word sprints run a 15, 25 or 45 minute timer with a live word count and log each sprint on the note.
Time capsules
Seal a note until a date — a letter to your future self, or something you want to open on a birthday. Until then the note shows a cover instead of its text.
The note's key is locked a second time with a layer our server removes only once the date has passed, using its own clock, so changing the time on your computer does nothing. That layer controls when the note can open; it can't decrypt it. When you seal a note you can choose to allow opening it early after a 24-hour wait. Like any time-locked item, opening it needs a connection to our server, and once it's open, what you've read can be copied.
